Disability Income
Protection

How would you survive, financially, if you were disabled, and couldn't work. It is a possibility.

Car accidents, health problems that suddenly arise, or something as innocent as a slippery bathtub, could bring your financial world to a grinding halt. Or maybe your only partially disabled, and can only only work part time, reducing your income.

The solution is Disability Income Protection, and its affordable. Benefit periods can be from 1 year to Age 65.

Most individuals have coverage where they work, but it can be limited.

Total Disability
Total disability occurs if you are unable to perform all the important, substantial and material duties of your own occupation due to illness or injury and you require a doctor's care. After the benefit period of total disability, the benefits, if any, for total disability are paid if you are unable, due to illness or injury, to perform all the substantial and material duties of any occupation for which you are fitted by education, training and experience, require a physician's care, and are not engaged in any job for wage or profit.

Partial Disability Benefit
While other insurance companies stop disability benefits or only continue benefits for a few months when the insured returns to work on a limited basis, this plan provides a proportional benefit for the entire benefit period selected. This proportionate disability benefit is payable when the insured meets the following criteria:

  • cannot spend as much time on the job or perform all the material or substantial duties of his/her occupation or any occupation;
  • has as little as 20% loss of earnings; and
  • is under a physician's regular care.

Presumptive Disability
A presumptive disability is included that presumes total disability if you suffer loss of speech, loss of hearing, loss of sight, loss of both feet, loss of both hands, or loss of one hand and one foot.

Recurrent Disability Benefit

  • Less than Six Months - Insured can begin receiving benefits without another elimination period if the same disability returns prior to six months of returning to full time work.
  • After Six Months - Insured can also begin receiving benefits again if a relapse of the same disability occurs after six months of returning to full-time work or if he or she experiences a different disability at any time. Each eligible period is subject to a new elimination period and the age 65 benefit limit.

Benefit Periods
The maximum length of time disability benefits will be paid:

  • 1 year
  • 2 years
  • 5 years
  • To Age 65
  • Lifetime

Benefit Periods are subject to the type of occupation of the insured.

Elimination Periods
The consecutive number of days that must pass before disability benefits begin:

  • 30 days
  • 60 days
  • 90 days
  • 180 days
  • 365 days

Rehabilitation Benefit
In addition to the disability benefits the insured receives, the insurance company may also participate in the costs of a vocational rehabilitation program. This personalized program can allow the insured to train for another occupation as well as include professional job counseling, aptitude testing and physical assessment, education/training costs and placement fees.

Survivor Benefit
A survivor benefit is available at no additional cost that pays a lump sum benefit to a named beneficiary in the event the insured has been receiving disability benefits for 12 months and then dies. The lump death benefit is 6 times the monthly benefit.

Waiver of Premium
Premium payments will be waived after 90 days (or the elimination period selected, if greater) when the insured suffersa total and/or proportionate disability. Any premiums due and paid will be refunded.
